Gallery 4 - A Peachy Coochy Morning

Pecha Kucha events are now springing up all over the world - they orginated in Japan and the term literally means 'chit chat'. They were devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDa) in Tokyo in 2003, to attract people to SuperDeluxe, their multi-media experimental event space .

A Pecha Kucha is an illustrated talk - 20 projected images X 20 seconds each = 6mins, 40secs. Done well these are funny, profound, inspiring and hugely entertaining. David Gale of the wonderful Artsadmin renamed the phenomenon Peachy Coochy and runs an event on the last Thursday of each month at Artsadmin's Arts Bar and Cafe in London.

For our part, on 18th Feb, AEP students gave their first Peachy Coochy's in our Hepworth studio. Their Peachy's all considered critical aspects of performance and, as the photos will show, were broadly informed, funny and really inspired by their recent visit to the National Review of Live Art.

Watch this space though - we may set up a monthly event at a venue in Leeds!
